Tested Tissue List
List of tissue types that were tested by 10x and found to perform well with the Visium HD Spatial Gene Expression assay. Tissues tested in-house were acquired from biobanks. Please note: sample preparation variability (such as fixation and embedding techniques), tissue biology, and slide handling may impact assay performance. Tissues listed below were stained as according to the Visium HD FFPE Tissue Preparation Handbook (CG000684).
For additional information on Tested Slides and recommendations, please refer to the Visium HD Spatial Gene Expression Protocol Planner (CG000698).

Species | Tissue | Primary diagnosis | Important considerations |
---|---|---|---|
Human | Brain | Healthy | |
Human | Brain | Cancer, Glioblastoma | |
Human | Breast | Healthy | Tissue type is rich in connective tissue, we recommend utilizing Schott Nexterion Slide H (Schott, PN-1800434) to minimize risk of tissue detachment. |
Human | Breast | Cancer, Ductal Carcinoma in Situ | Tissue type is rich in connective tissue, we recommend utilizing Schott Nexterion Slide H (Schott, PN-1800434) to minimize risk of tissue detachment. |
Human | Breast | Cancer, Invasive Lobular Carcinoma | Amount of connective tissue can vary with this tissue type. For tissue blocks rich in connective tissue, we recommend utilizing Schott Nexterion Slide H (Schott, PN-1800434) to minimize risk of tissue detachment. |
Human | Colon | Healthy | Amount of connective tissue can vary with this tissue type. For tissue blocks rich in connective tissue, they may benefit from utilizing Schott Nexterion Slide H (Schott, PN-1800434) to minimize risk of tissue detachment. |
Human | Colon | Cancer, Adenocarcinoma | Amount of connective tissue can vary with this tissue type. For tissue blocks rich in connective tissue, they may benefit from utilizing Schott Nexterion Slide H (Schott, PN-1800434) to minimize risk of tissue detachment. |
Human | Kidney | Healthy | |
Human | Liver | Cancer, Hepatocellular Carcinoma | |
Human | Lung | Cancer, Adenocarcinoma | |
Human | Lymph Node | Healthy | |
Human | Ovary | Cancer, Serous Carcinoma | |
Human | Pancreas | Healthy | |
Human | Prostate | Cancer, Adenocarcinoma | |
Human | Skin | Cancer, Melanoma | |
Human | Spleen | Healthy | Tissue type commonly contains regions rich in red blood cells which may result in a reduction in usable reads in these localized area(s) indicated by an increase in split-mapped reads on the web summary. These wasted reads will be filtered out of the final data. |
Human | Tonsil | Chronic tonsilitis | |
Human (TMA) | Brain, Breast, Colon, Lung, Skin, Spleen (3 x 3 Array, 1.5 mm Diameter, .5 mm Edge-to-Edge Distance) | Healthy & Diseased | Expertise required for generating TMA blocks, sectioning and tissue placement. If array is composed of tissue cores rich in connective tissue or prone to detachment, we recommend utilizing Schott Nexterion Slide H (Schott, PN-1800434). |
Mouse | Brain | Healthy | |
Mouse | Embryo E17.5, E15.5 | Healthy | |
Mouse | Heart | Healthy | |
Mouse | Intestine (Swiss roll) | Healthy | |
Mouse | Kidney | Healthy | |
Mouse | Lung | Healthy |
